Drew Hiatt’s expertise in business development/marketing, public relations, strategic communications, and public affairs is built on a 30+ year career helping leaders, executives, corporations, governments, associations, and nonprofits significantly grow their influence, reputations, brands, sales, revenues, and business in the commercial and public sectors, as well as through the media in the United States and worldwide. He is recognized throughout the industry for his ability to leverage strategic thinking, insights, and strengths in PR and media relations, crisis communications, digital media, marketing (B2B, B2C, B2G, G2C, G2G), and public and government affairs.

He develops, implements, and leads integrated programs in these areas that drive and deliver high-impact results for clients. Drew has advised Fortune 50-500 and Global 500 corporations, large companies, midsize frms, and small businesses, as well as domestic and foreign governments, associations, and nonprofits.

He has been a principal, executive, and top strategist in two integrated full-service PR, public affairs, and strategic communications agencies in Washington, DC. And he has secured millions of dollars in earned (unpaid) media coverage in U.S. and global media markets promoting clients’ stories, brands, and solutions.

Drew has also worked at all levels of the U.S. government, holding leadership, legislative, and communications positions in the administration of President George H.W. Bush, as well as with leaders and senior lawmakers in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives for nearly nine years. These include U.S. Senator James Broyhill, U.S. Representative George M. O’Brien, and U.S. Representative Guy Vander Jagt. He also was a staff director of the House Small Business Committee, the youngest staff director in Congress at the time of his appointment.

He has been a media spokesperson, commentator, and columnist. Drew has appeared on U.S. and international television (CNN, Fox News, Happy TV, America’s Talking, etc.), been interviewed on national radio, and quoted in newspapers and magazines (The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Reader’s Digest, etc.), resulting in millions of dollars’ worth of positive earned media coverage.

For more than 30 years, Drew has served as a top political adviser and strategist to elected officials and candidates for national, state, and local office. He has held both paid and volunteer leadership and other positions on numerous political campaigns for the U.S. President, U.S. Congress, governor, and state and local legislature, advising on strategy, messaging, media relations, opposition research, and voter turnout.

Drew was elected to the Loudoun County, Virginia Board of Supervisors. He represented the Dulles District, part of the global tech hub in the Dulles Technology Corridor that includes tech giants Amazon Web Services, AOL, IBM Corporation, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Raytheon, and Verizon.

Drew also served on the prestigious Northern Virginia Technology Council.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in German and Political Science from Western Maryland College (renamed McDaniel College). Following graduation, he attended Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. Drew completed additional coursework at the University of Maryland.
